So we gave you the list of worst coffeeshops in Amsterdam. Coffeeshops not to go to. Now here is a list with – in my opnion – the best coffeshops of Amsterdam. Go check em out.
- Katzu – Shop in the Albert Cuyp market area. Very local and cozy. Lots of the guys that build the market stands hag here before and after work. Play tricktrack (a backgammon variant) with the people from the neighborhood.
- Tweedekamer – Small and famous. It’s tiny but famous for quality and always crowded since it’s so tiny. Very intimate, so to speak.
- Basjoe – The place is run but two Jamaican guys which ads to the fun. They do the best ‘broodje hete kip’ (= spicy chicken on a roll) in town. Say “ey bob” – with a Jamaican accent – when you meet the guy behind the counter. He’ll think you’re a regular.
- La Tertulia - Funny place. It’s light, open, arty and filled with a collection of crystals from around the world and they have a fish pond. And milkshakes. Beautiful spot on the Prinsengracht which you should definitely check out. UK: This is where Michelle was filmed for ‘Eastenders’ when she tried her first joint.
- Dampkring – Not my personal favorite, a bit to commercial in my opinion but a lot of my friends and tourists seem to love it. Big chance of spotting Brad Pitt here, when he’s in Amsterdam. Supposed to be he’s favorite shop.
If you like hash, just go to a obscure ‘morrocan’ coffeeshop. The more marrocans in the shop, the better the quality of the hash. Not the most cosy one’s usually though. But good and cheap.
