To be honest; I’m not gay. Nor do I need a hotel in Amsterdam since I live here. But I do noticed that we have quite some hotels & bed and breakfast’s that focus at the gay community. Also, I support the gay community. Just like I support all other liberal thinkers in this town. We need them now, more then ever. The right wing and conservatives parties are becomming way to stong, also in Amsterdam. The city is suffering from lack of inspiration, strong art scene, creativity, and liveliness in general, if you ask me. Having said that; here’s the list of Gay hotels. Feel very welcome, enrich our city (and help our local economy …). Thanks!
- The Black Tulip – Must be one of the most bizarre Hotels on the planet. If you’re into the leather / fetish thing, this is your dream come through I suppose. Unfortunatly it’s currently closed for renovation but it just could not be absent in this list. Check the website for re-opening details. Blacktulip.nl
- Barangay B & B – Tropical (Filipino) style bed and breakfast on a beautiful spot, right next to central station and close to the Jordaan area. Supposed to be a nice place with good value for money.
- The Golden Bear -Claims to be the first gay hotel of Amsterdam, founded shortly after the Second World War. And it looks like the oldest as well. Shabby but cozy. I don’t know much about the place, except that the location is very good. Very close to all gay area’s and spot on in the center. If you come to part, this is your location.
- Hotel Amistad – Not the cheapest place on the list but beautiful, clean, and modern. They offer hotel rooms but also bed and breackfast as well as apartments. Almost on the exact same location as the Golden Bear.
- Orfeo Hotel - Hotel Orfeo is a combination of a hotel and hostel. They are cheap and have a crap website.
